A Las Vegas defense attorney who specializes in DUI cases was arrested on suspicion of driving under the influence after a crash early today, according to the Nevada Highway Patrol.

This is the third DUI-related case Garrett Tanji Ogata has faced in Clark County, according to Las Vegas Justice Court records.

Ogata, 54, remained at the Clark County Detention Center on one count each of DUI (second offense), failure to reduce speed or use due care and driving without a driver’s license, jail logs show. He was being held on $7,000 bail, records show.

A person who answered the phone at Ogata’s law office said nobody was available to comment.

According to the patrol, Ogata’s Aston Martin was involved in a crash with an SUV about 2:30 a.m. today on the 215 Beltway near Eastern Avenue. Two people in the SUV suffered survivable injuries, the patrol said.

Further details about the crash were not available.

According to court records, Ogata previously faced counts of DUI and leaving the scene of a crash in 2003. The DUI count was subsequently dismissed, and he pleaded guilty to a reduced count of leaving the scene of an accident, records show.

In 2016, Ogata was arrested again and booked on counts of DUI, failure to maintain a lane and driving over 21 mph above the speed limit, court logs show. He pleaded guilty to DUI, and the other two counts were dismissed, according to court records.
