Las Vegas man sentenced on child porn charges

A Las Vegas man who uploaded and received hundreds of files of child pornography over the internet will serve 12 years in federal prison, according to the office of the U.S. attorney for the district of Nevada.

The investigation into Adam Burley, 26, kicked off when authorities determined he had in July 2016 uploaded eight photos — at least one that depicted a child no older than 5 years old being sexually assaulted — to a group-chat website from his Las Vegas home, according to officials and court documents.

Authorities the following January served a search warrant in Burley’s apartment in the 1800 block of Cosmic Drive, near Lake Mead and Lamb boulevards, where he admitted “he had made a horrible mistake,” according to plea agreement documents.

Burley admitted he received and uploaded files through a group-chat website using an app, the court documents said. “The defendant admitted to using terms like ‘PTHC’ (which stands for “Pre-Teen Hard Core),” the documents show.

The investigation revealed that it had hosted more than 400 of the illicit files, officials said.

Burley faces a lifetime supervision after he’s released from prison, officials said. The case was investigated by the FBI.
