Metro Police on Wednesday said they dismantled two criminal groups accused of targeting tourists in vehicle burglaries in Spring Valley.

Three of the suspects live in Las Vegas, while the other three — who operate independently from the local perpetrators — are Oakland, Calif., residents, police said.

Investigators learned of “large number of underreported criminal incidents” in the Chinatown area, police said.

Because of this, Metro set out to educate the community about the importance of reporting the incidents, police said. This led to the investigation that brought down the criminal groups.

The alleged suspects are Tyrone Brown, 22; Milton Wallace, 23, and Marvin Brown, 61, of Las Vegas, police said. Mack Woodfox, 22; Luka Beita, 23, and Nicolas West, 20, are from Northern California, police said.

Police advised motorists to lock their vehicles, take their keys and hide their valuables. More tips are available at the Tourist Safety page on lvmpd.com.
