Man dead, teen arrested after east valley shooting

A man was killed and a teen arrested in a shooting Tuesday night that stemmed from an apparent robbery, according to Metro Police.

Gunshots were fired about 10:30 p.m. near Clifford Street and Japan Way in the east valley, police said. Officers found the victim lying in the street with multiple gunshot wounds, police said.

The man, who was being helped by a passerby, died at University Medical Center, police said. His name has not yet been released.

The teen was located about a half mile away in the backyard of a house where he had knocked on the door and asked for help, police said.

Police said the teen, who was not identified because of their age, was involved in the incident but didn't say if they were suspected of pulling the trigger.
