ELKO — Vandals have struck some of the remaining buildings at a summer youth camp in northeast Nevada that was severely damaged last fall by a raging wildfire.
Volunteers working to restore Camp Lamoille in the Ruby Mountains southeast of Elko discovered the new damage over the weekend.
Lions Club member Teri Gage told the Elko Daily Free Press the vandals broke windows in the restroom, showers and administration building.
A partition wall in the administration building also was knocked down and light fixtures were damaged in three A-frame cabins.
The wildfire that scorched more than 14 square miles (36 sq. kilometers) destroyed 10 of the camp's 16 buildings, including the historic lodge that was built in 1940.
The Lions Club has launched a drive to raise money for an effort to rebuild and reopen the camp next year.
