A Big Valley Towing heavy rescue unit lifts a pickup truck off another car after fiery morning accident on the I-15 northbound to U.S. 95 northbound offramp at the Spaghetti Bowl Thursday, Aug. 13, 2020. Three people, including a child, died in the crash.

Three people, including a child, were killed Thursday morning in a fiery crash on northbound Interstate 15 near the Spaghetti Bowl, according to the Nevada Highway Patrol.

Around 11:15 a.m., a small silver sedan heading north "abruptly" cut through lanes, striking a pickup truck, which was pulling an off-road vehicle, Trooper Travis Smaka said.

The vehicles went over a wall, and the sedan became lodged underneath the truck as flames engulfed the wreck.

It wasn't clear what sparked the blaze, but the vehicles had also hit an electrical box, Smaka said.

Subsequently, a Toyota 4Runner was hit by the off-road vehicle on the trailer.

The three bodies as well as a dead small animal were later found in the sedan, Smaka said.

Two occupants in the burning pickup escaped unharmed, as did the SUV driver.

The investigation is ongoing.
