Teenager killed in northeast Las Vegas shooting

A teenager was shot and killed Sunday afternoon during an altercation between three other youths in northeast Las Vegas, according to Metro Police.

The victim was walking on a Las Vegas Boulevard North sidewalk, near Nellis Boulevard, when he was confronted by a trio of teens walking in the opposite direction about 3 p.m., Lt. Ray Spencer said.

At some point during the fight, one of the teens opened fire and fatally wounded the boy, who was only described as being in his late teens, Spencer said.

The trio took off running, and the victim died at University Medical Center, Spencer said.

Police believe the victim and at least one of the boys knew each other, but a possible motive for the confrontation hadn’t been established, Spencer said.
