Located just west of the Strip in an industrial area, the multi-use event center known as the Space has been a leading local venue when it comes to livestreaming entertainment from Las Vegas while shows and concerts are paused to fight the spread of coronavirus. Now it’s amping things up.
The Space has partnered with Broadway World, one of the best-known theater websites covering Broadway, London’s West End and beyond, to expand the availability of its pay-per-view-style livestream events. Operated by local entertainer and host Mark Shunock, the Space announced today it will have a new home on the Broadway World hub to provide new, live entertainment events, concerts and shows for audiences anywhere to view safely from home while also providing performing artists the opportunity to generate income.
The Space also unveiled a knockout slate of new shows to be streamed from the Vegas venue, including Strip headliners the Righteous Brothers performing four shows in September, a series featuring members of the Las Vegas Philharmonic and many more.
“We’re thrilled to be able to bring the Space into homes around the world and give the great talent in the Las Vegas performing arts scene and beyond a national stage,” said Shunock, founder of the Space and creator of its signature show, the semi-monthly charity event Mondays Dark. “I’m extremely proud to be able to help our industry earn again. It’s been months of no income for so many. Our team at the Space is ready to help get as many as we can back to work.”
The Space has been livestreaming various events, including Mondays Dark shows, since January. Recent concerts from Maxine Jones of R&B group En Vogue and “Jersey Boys” stage and screen star John Lloyd Young have raised its reputation and strengthened the pay-per-view model after the venue has reinvested and renovated to elevate production quality.
With increased exposure from new partnerships like Broadway World, the online concerts and performances are expected to increase and help more artists get back to work.
“Bringing live entertainment back and helping both venues and entertainers reopen their doors was a key motivator towards the launch of the Broadway World Events streaming platform,” said Robert Diamond, CEO of Broadway World. “I can’t think of a better way to expand the events we’re streaming than in one of my favorite cities for top-notch live entertainment and with a hot, tech-savvy venue that’s got the same mission.”
The Righteous Brothers, Bill Medley and Bucky Heard, have been headlining at Harrah’s Las Vegas in recent years and will perform livestream shows at the Space on September 9, 16, 23 and 30. Another Harrah’s act, family band the Bronx Wanderers, are set to play September 11. Other upcoming highlights featuring Las Vegas artists include Travis Cloer and Christian Hoff on September 18, Anne Martinez and Lisa Marie Smith on September 19, Michael Cavanaugh on September 25, John Lloyd Young returning on October 3, Ruby Lewis on October 23 and Clint Holmes on November 6.
Pay-per-view ticket prices will vary and September events will go on sale August 28. Mondays Dark continues tonight at 8 p.m. with a show hosted by Shunock featuring the music of the Eagles and benefitting local hockey charity Spectrum on Ice.
