Derek Hough is ready to captivate at the Flamingo.

I spoke with Derek Hough on the phone last May so he could tell me all about his very first solo tour, which stopped at the Smith Center for one show, and the more he described the production’s live band, eclectic music, stylistic staging and full range of dance genres, the more I got to thinking that maybe he should have a Vegas residency. “It is funny that a lot of people have mentioned it to me after this show, that I should do a show in Vegas, so who knows?” he said back then.

Our plan has come to fruition. The multi-talented entertainer and Emmy Award-winning choreographer will launch “Derek Hough: No Limit” at the Flamingo Showroom on June 2, and this is no short-term gig. He’s got plenty of dates lined up all summer long and into November in the room where “RuPaul’s Drag Race Live” just opened last week.

“Performance is my passion, and I am excited to showcase this in an intimate and personal way,” Hough said in the show announcement. “My all-new production gives me the opportunity to connect with audiences and share what I love to do with them.  More than just being entertained, I hope everyone will leave feeling moved and inspired to get up and dance.”

If Paula Abdul can get the Flamingo Showroom crowd up out of their seats, maybe Hough can do it too. His show will cover ballroom, tap, salsa, hip-hop and other dance styles, and you can expect him to do some singing and play an instrument or two. Tickets go on sale February 7 and more info can be found at flamingolasvegas.com.

More show news this week:

Adam Lambert’s Velvet Tour will make an extended stop at the Venetian Theatre for three shows on April 22, 24 and 25. Tickets go on sale February 8. The powerhouse singer has proven he has the chops and charisma to command the Vegas stage, particularly during a Park Theater run with Brian May and Roger Taylor as Queen + Adam Lambert. He continues to tour with Queen in Australia, Asia, the U.K. and Europe and will continue his solo tour after the Vegas dates back in Europe, including gigs at the Manchester Pride Festival and at London’s Wembley Arena. His new album “Velvet” will be out on March 20 and he recently unleashed new single “Roses,” featuring Nile Rodgers.

A new TV hunk will be taking his turn on the Chippendales stage for Valentine’s Day. Jordan Kimball from “The Bachelorette” and “Bachelor in Paradise” will join the male revue as celebrity guest host for four shows on February 14 and 15 at the Rio. Will his wild antics from reality TV translate when he dons the cuffs and collar? Go see for yourself.

If you have different kind of romantic Vegas outing in mind, check this out: Cirque du Soleil is celebrating the special day by offering up to 50 percent off its seven Strip shows. The discounts started this week on Tuesday and will be available through February 16 and are valid for future dates this year, subject to availability. If you’ve been meaning to take your better half to “O” at Bellagio or “The Beatles LOVE” at the Mirage, this is a great opportunity, and you don’t have to tell them you got a great deal.
