PFC Nikolas Herrera of the Army National Guard approaches a patient as he pulls into UNLV’s new Drive-thru and walk-up COVID-19 testing site, Tuesday May 26, 2020. The testing site, which opens to the public tomorrow the 27th, has been relocated from The Orleans Hotel & Casino to the parking garage of the Thomas & Mack Center and is open to anyone at no cost to the patient.

A free coronavirus testing site will be available at the Sandy Valley Community Center 9 a.m. to noon Saturday, Clark County officials said.

Around 200 self-administered nasal swab tests will be available on a first-come, first-served basis. No appointment is necessary.

Testing is available for anyone, whether a patient is exhibiting symptoms or not. Children can be tested as well.

When patients arrive at the site, they are asked to wear a face covering and bring their identification.

All results — both positive and negative — are reported to the Southern Nevada Health District. Patients will receive their results by phone within a week.

The county, Health District and other local partners are working to offer a variety of different testing options for the public. Visit the health district website for a full calendar listing.

“It’s important for as many of our residents as possible to be tested for COVID-19 so we can get an accurate picture of how widespread the virus is in Southern Nevada,” Clark County Commissioner Justin Jones, whose Commission District includes Sandy Valley and Goodsprings, said in a statement. “Without a vaccine, the virus will continue to present a public health threat that we need to stay on top of. The data gathered from testing will help us respond quickly to any cases that emerge.”

Drive-thru testing is still available at UNLV's Tropicana parking garage 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. Tuesday through Saturda.. Since the site opened late last month, a total of 8,645 tests have been completed, said county spokeswoman Stacey Welling. Patients can schedule appointments online through University Medical Center’s website.
