A second Clark County resident has presumptively tested positive for COVID-19, bringing the detected coronavirus cases in Nevada to four.

The Southern Nevada Health District announced the most recent Clark County case on Sunday, noting the investigation was in its preliminary stages with more information expected to be released Monday.

The virus had infected 109,000 residents across 90 countries, claiming 3,800 lives as of Sunday.

The first Clark County resident who tested positive, as of Friday, remained in serious condition at a VA Southern Nevada Healthcare facility. He is in his 50s with “underlying medical conditions.”

He traveled to Texas and Washington state where cases of the virus have been confirmed. Most of the 21 victims killed by the virus in the U.S. died in Washington state.

The two men infected with the virus in Washoe County — one diagnosed Thursday and the other on Sunday — were quarantined at their homes.

The first man is believed to have been exposed to the virus on Grand Princess cruise ship. Investigators were tracking 39 other Nevadans who were aboard the ship that disembarked on Feb. 21. “I’m proud to say that Nevada’s local health authorities responded immediately to contact and assess all passengers for sign of illness,” Gov. Steve Sisolak said Saturday.

A young relative of the infected man and schoolmates at a Reno-area elementary school tested negative to the virus on Friday, Sisolak said.

The second infected man, who is in his 30s, had traveled to California, Washoe County officials said.

As of last update, the four cases were considered presumptive positive. The federal Centers for Disease Control and Prevention will confirm the virus through its own testing.
