Vegas Golden Knights left wing Max Pacioretty (67) celebrates after scoring against the New Jersey Devils during the second period of an NHL hockey game Tuesday, March 3, 2020, in Las Vegas.

The NHL today directed players to self-quarantine at home through at least March 27.

The league said “consideration will be given” after the mandated self-quarantine period to reopening team facilities for small group workouts, “depending on world developments between now and then.”

The NHL paused its season last week as sports leagues face the realities of the coronavirus pandemic.

No NHL players have tested positive for coronavirus, and the league wants any players exhibiting symptoms to be tested. All team facilities and workouts have been suspended and players are encouraged to remain in hockey shape during the hiatus by working out at home, the league said.

The CDC recommended Sunday that all gatherings of more than 50 people be canceled for eight weeks.

“Our objective will be that, in addition to continuing regular updates, we will be able to provide high-level guidance on the potential of opening a training camp period roughly 45 days into the 60-day period covered by the CDC’s directive,” the NHL said in a statement.

Players are paid on a biweekly basis during the season and have two paydays remaining in the NHL season (March 30 and April 15). Those have not been affected.
