The Fremont Street Experience is empty Wednesday, March 18, 2020, after Gov. Steve Sisolak ordered the closure of all nonessential businesses in an effort to combat the spread of COVID-19.

The Fremont Street Experience pedestrian mall will reopen Wednesday morning.

The mall, which offers access to shops, restaurants and casinos, will open at 9 a.m., though casinos cannot open until 12:01 a.m. Thursday, according to a new release.

Viva Vision, the giant video canopy over the five-block entertainment district, will display a countdown leading up to the opening of the casinos.

Gov. Steve Sisolak in mid-March ordered casinos and other nonessential businesses statewide closed to help prevent the spread of the coronavirus. They have been reopening in phases since May 9.

The district’s SlotZilla zipline attraction will open at 4 p.m. Thursday.

“We are committed to reinvigorating downtown Las Vegas and helping make a positive impact in the community,” Patrick Hughes, president and CEO of the Fremont Street Experience, said in a statement.

The pedestrian mall, nearby parking garage and SlotZilla towers will be disinfected twice a day, the news release said.
