After his seventh deportation to his native Mexico, the man returned to the Las Vegas Valley. And instead of keeping a low profile, he was busted with drugs with the intent to sell them, according to federal authorities.
For that, Josue Garcia-Rodriguez, 25, will spend nearly five years in prison for reentering the U.S. and violating parole for a previous reentry violation and a gun and drug case out of Henderson, the office of the U.S. attorney for the district of Nevada said Friday.
Garcia-Rodriguez, who has also used the names Juan Pablo Mungia-Garcia and Josue Garcia Chapo, was deported seven times between 2012 and 2018, officials said.
He was convicted in 2012 in Clark County on a felony drug case, according to a previous sentencing memorandum. A judge suspended the jail sentence and imposed probation.
Garcia-Rodriguez violated parole the next year and was sent to prison. In 2016, he was convicted on a felony marijuana case and sent back to prison.
He was purportedly deported but found again in Clark County in 2017. He was sent back to Mexico.
In June 2019, he made his way back to the U.S. where he was caught again with drugs, which he intended to sell, officials said.
