A teenage boy killed himself in an accidental shooting early today in a North Las Vegas neighborhood, according to city police.
“This is a horrible event,” wrote North Las Vegas Police Officer Alexander Cuevas in a news release. “We are deeply saddened, and the (police department) gives its deepest condolences to the family of this child.”
The shooting occurred about 1:30 a.m. at a home in the 3300 block of Park Town Street, near Revere Street and Cheyenne Avenue, police said.
The boy, who suffered a gunshot wound to the chest, died at University Medical Center, said police, describing him as being in his early teenage years.
Police said they were trying to determine how he obtained the gun.
