Health care workers test patients in their cars at a drive-thru coronavirus testing site run by the UNLV School of Medicine and the Nevada National Guard, Friday, July 10, 2020, in Las Vegas.

A cellphone alert today informing people about free COVID-19 testing was intended to “make it widely known that this free, convenient, drive-thru testing is available,” Clark County officials said.

Stop, Swab and Go testing sites are open at Sam Boyd Stadium, Texas Station and the Fiesta Henderson. Testing is also being conducted at University Medical Center, Cashman Center and UNLV.

The Clark County Office of Emergency Management sent out the alert about 2:45 p.m.

So far in Clark County, there have been over 59,000 coronavirus cases and at least 1,134 related deaths.

A link in the text-message alert goes to a website to register for the free testing.
