A scuffle during a chance encounter on the Strip over the weekend left a man with five gunshot wounds and three men in jail, according to Metro Police documents.

The victim landed in the hospital, where he was expected to recover, while Derrion Cox, 19, Jalondon Parker, 24, and Anthony Derai Wade, 23, were booked on multiple counts, including battery with a deadly weapon, Las Vegas Justice Court records show.

The three suspects were ordered released under supervision, with the condition that they stay away from the Strip, guns and the victim, records show.

Gunshots erupted about 2:45 a.m. Saturday outside the Paris Las Vegas, where the victim, who was holding a boombox, was walking with his uncle, police said.

Cox and the victim bumped into each other and exchanged words, police said. When the victim approached, Cox punched him in the face.

Around this time, Parker circled the men, pulled out a gun and shot it nine times, striking the victim five times, including in his limbs and buttocks, police said, adding that Parker was caught on surveillance cameras. Two female bystanders, one of whom was also hospitalized, suffered cuts.

One of the women told police that after the men bumped into each other, someone in the suspects’ group said, “What the (expletive), man?” to which the victim allegedly responded, “What are you going to do about it?” before he was shot, police said.

The suspects were tracked down nearby on the Strip. Parker later told detectives that he fired his gun in self-defense, according to the men's arrest report.
