CCSD seniors cleared for in-person graduation ceremonies

Superintendent of Schools: Walt Rulffes

The Clark County School District offices are shown in Las Vegas in May 2009.

Clark County School District seniors will graduate at in-person ceremonies starting May 26, officials announced Thursday.

Graduations were held virtually last May because of the coronavirus, which forced campuses to close and remote learning for the final two months of the school year. Current high school seniors returned last month to an in-person setting.

“I appreciate the patience our students and families have shown during the last few months as we worked to provide the opportunity for students and families to experience in-person graduations,” said Jesus Jara, schools superintendent, in a news release.

Ceremonies will be held at MGM Grand Garden Arena, Orleans Arena and the Thomas & Mack Center.

Individual schools will follow with complete details, including how families can acquire tickets and virus protocols for attending. Graduation locations and times are available by clicking here.

“This is a truly exciting time for our students and families, and we are proud to celebrate the Class of 2021,” said Linda Cavazos, president of the CCSD school board. “You have faced and conquered many unique challenges this year, and on behalf of the Board of Trustees, I wish you the best in the future as you live your dreams and reach your goals.”
