UNLV volleyball earns title-game spot in postseason event

The UNLV volleyball team will play for the National Invitational Volleyball Championship title.

Senior outside hitter Mariena Hayden had 14 kills and 16.5 points, and junior outside hitter Shelby Capllonch supplied 16 digs on Thursday in leading UNLV to a 3-1 (15-25, 25-21, 25-18, 25-17) win over host UTEP in the tournament semifinals.

UNLV (27-9) will play either University of Connecticut or Valparaiso in the championship. A date and location will later be determined.

Lauryn Burt had a match-high 21 assists for UNLV, Ariena Fafard had 15 assists and Milica Tasic contributed seven kills and 10.5 points.

UNLV has already established a program record for single-season wins with 27.
