People posted photos and video of snow falling in parts of the Las Vegas Valley on Monday, but the flurries in Summerlin and the Anthem area of Henderson didn’t stick.

Late Monday, the National Weather Service in Las Vegas reported snow showers in parts of the western valley, with light accumulations of snow expected overnight on the western and southern edges of the valley.

Rain, meanwhile, fell across most of the valley Monday before tapering off, said Jenn Varian, a forecaster with the National Weather Service in Las Vegas.

Some areas saw up to a quarter inch of rain, with the heaviest rainfall on the outskirts of Henderson, near Boulder City, the weather service said.

Snow flurries were reported in Summerlin, Mountain’s Edge and Henderson, the weather service said.

Several inches of snow fell at Mount Charleston Monday beginning at 3,000 feet, weather service forecaster Trevor Boucher said, with Lee Canyon's accumulation measuring 7 to 10 inches. Red Rock Canyon got about 3 to 4 inches.

Mount Charleston was expected to get another 6 to 8 inches of snow overnight.

Throughout the week, the Spring Mountains will get snowfall off and on, according to the U.S. Forest Service.

There is a chance of snow early Tuesday on the west side and the Las Vegas Strip.

The possibility of rain will remain in the forecast through Friday.

Northern Nevada was hit with another storm overnight. Washoe County School District officials say the school day will run about two hours behind for both in-person and distance learning classes Monday because of commuting conditions.

Forecasters say another storm is expected to bring heavy snow to the Sierra by Tuesday night. Areas between Washoe and White Pine counties are under a winter weather advisory.

The National Weather Service warns that people should avoid traveling in the Sierra between Tuesday and Friday. If they cannot, then they should expect long delays and pack an emergency kit.
