A Nevada Highway Patrol trooper hit by a carjacking suspect during a chase Tuesday on Interstate 15 remained in critical condition today, officials said.

Trooper Micah May, 46, was putting down spiked stop sticks in an effort to deflate the tires of the fleeing car when he was struck, the patrol said.

Authorities shot and killed the suspect on the highway, between Sahara Avenue and Flamingo Road, the patrol said.

The patrol has released few details about the suspect or the shooting, which is being investigated by Metro Police.

According to the patrol, the chase began in the north valley and extended to the freeway and surface streets.
