The victim walked outside her North Las Vegas workplace, where she was forced into a parked car under the threat of death.

Then she was beaten, raped and strangled “to the point of losing consciousness,” North Las Vegas Police said today in announcing the suspect’s arrest.

Jesse Huerta, 24, was taken into custody today on three counts of sexual assault, two counts of kidnapping, and one count each of child abuse, domestic battery via strangulation, battery with intent to commit sexual assault, robbery, being a felon in possession of a firearm, and coercion by force, police said in a news release.

It wasn’t clear when the alleged crimes occurred, or how Huerta was identified.

The level of violence Huerta used, police said, is similar to previous arrests he incurred in Las Vegas.

In 2017, a Jesse Huerta was arrested in Las Vegas on four counts of sexual assault and one count each of battery to commit sexual assault on a victim over 16 years of age, domestic battery by strangulation and burglary, Las Vegas Justice Court records show.

In a plea agreement in the case the following year, Huerta pleaded guilty to one charge each of domestic battery by strangulation and sexually motivated coercion, Clark County District Court records show.

He was sentenced to two to six years in state prison, but it wasn’t immediately clear when he was released.

“Due to Huerta's course of conduct from past arrests and the level of violence used, investigators have reason to believe there are other victims,” North Las Vegas Police said.
