The COVID vaccine will be distributed in June at sports venues throughout Las Vegas in attempt by health officials to reach another demographic — the sports fan.

Las Vegas Ballpark, home of baseball's Aviators, will host a pop-up vaccination event in the stadium concourse 9 a.m.-1 p.m. on June 5. Eligible children who get their shots at the ballpark, located at 1650 S. Pavilion Center Drive in Summerlin, can win raffle prizes, including Aviators game tickets, and participate in on-field baseball activities.

From June 10-13 and June 17-20, Allegiant Stadium, home of the Raiders, will host clinics in the Modelo Cantina Club overlooking the field from 2 p.m.-7:45 p.m. each day. Vaccine recipients can take home a souvenir rally towel. Parking will be in Lots E and F, with stadium entry through the southeast entrance. Allegiant is located at 3333 Al Davis Way, near the Strip.

The events will offer the Pfizer and Johnson & Johnson vaccines. The Pfizer vaccine is authorized for children as young as 12. The Johnson & Johnson, or Janssen, vaccine is for ages 18 and up. Appointments are recommended for both sites and can be scheduled through the Southern Nevada Health District’s website at www.SNHD.info/covid, although walk-ups will be accommodated while supplies last.

The stadium clinics join a varied list of pop-ups that offer vaccine access and, occasionally, novelty to communities. In recent days, clinics have been set up at a topless bar, the iconic Welcome to Fabulous Las Vegas sign at the Strip’s southern gateway, and outside a Golden Knights game at T-Mobile Arena, in addition to clinics at schools, community centers and churches.
