Quarterback Gavin Brown accounted for five touchdowns today for the Virgin Valley football team in a 35-0 win against host Pahrump in the 3A state quarterfinals.
Woods completed 14 of 17 passes for 215 yards and three touchdowns, and added rushing scores of 9 and 2 yards. Virgin Valley scored on each of its three first-half possessions.
Benson Leavitt had two receiving touchdowns and Ashten Roman added the other. Roman is working his way back into the lineup after an injury in the first month of the season.
And he’s not the only Bulldog returning for the playoffs. Four two-ways starters who have been out for the most the season should all play next week at Elko in the state semifinals.
“We are getting our guys back healthy,” coach Matt Wood said. “We are going to be a lot better team (in the last two weeks) than we have been all season.”
