Bank executive announces campaign for lieutenant governor in Nevada

The founder of Las Vegas-based bank announced Tuesday that he is running for lieutenant governor as a Republican with the hopes of rebuilding Nevada’s economy.

John Miller, the founding CEO of Lexicon Bank, joins Stavros Anthony, a Las Vegas City Councilman, in the fight for the Republican nomination. Democrats Kimi Cole and Henderson Mayor Debra March are also running.

“No official wakes up every day focused on bringing the right business and jobs to Nevada,” Miller said in the announcement. “Nobody. I’m running for Lieutenant Governor to fix that. We need a leader ready and willing to sell the wonderful advantages of our state and finally give Nevada a full-time recruiter focused on bringing new jobs to our state and helping the businesses already here to expand and create new jobs.”

Miller serves on the Board of Directors for Lexicon Bank and as vice president of finance for the Las Vegas Area Council of the Boy Scouts of America. He is co-owner Cast Wines with his wife, Jacki.

The lieutenant governor position has been vacant since Kate Marshall resigned in August to take a job at the White House. Gov. Steve Sisolak has not appointed anyone new, although his spokesperson, Meghin Delaney, said he plans soon appoint a replacement.
