Metro: 13 DUI arrests made in weekend event

Metro Police arrested more than a dozen people over the weekend for impaired driving in its “DUI Blitz,” officials announced today.

Officers conducted 160 traffic stops that resulted in 13 DUI arrests. Another 40 citations were given, three guns were recovered and one felon was arrested, Metro said in a news release.

The event was part of an ongoing effort to catch impaired drivers, police said, citing impaired driving “consistently” has been the most common cause of vehicle crashes resulting in injury or death in Nevada.

Police urged motorists to always drive sober, or use a designated driver.
