A homeless man upset about his car being repossessed and about how he was treated at a Las Vegas hospital made a pair of bomb threats last week and was arrested Sunday, according to a Metro Police arrest report.

Glendon Griebel, 57, was arrested and booked at the Clark County Detention Center three days after making the threats to Spring Valley Hospital and a CarMax dealership on West Sahara Avenue on Oct. 21, police said.

Police were notified after an employee at Spring Valley’s call center received multiple calls from Griebel at about 4 p.m. last Thursday. Griebel stated he “placed a bomb in the hospital and it’s going off in five minutes. I can see you guys looking for it,” according to the arrest report.

While police were investigating the calls to the hospital, they received word of a similar threat at CarMax. Police were able to identify the number as Griebel’s, who recently had stayed at Spring Valley, according to hospital records.

Officers were dispatched to the CarMax and spoke with a manager, who said he and his staff were unable to locate any suspicious devices in or around the building, but evacuated as a precaution. After another sweep with police present, the treat was deemed not credible and staff were allowed to reenter, according to the report.

After investigating both incidents, police spoke with Griebel’s family and learned he was homeless. Officers responded to a domestic disturbance on Oct. 24 that involved Griebel and he was taken into custody, police said.

Griebel has been appointed a public attorney and has a preliminary hearing scheduled for Nov. 16, according to online court records.
