Police: Student with gun arrested at Cheyenne High School

Police arrested a Cheyenne High School student who was found with a gun today, causing the North Las Vegas school to be locked down for several hours, according to a letter sent to parents.

Nobody was injured, officials said.

The 16-year-old student faces counts of possession of a dangerous weapon on school property, possession of a firearm and carrying a concealed weapon, Clark County School District Police Lt. Bryan Zink said.

The student was found with a .38-caliber revolver, Zink said. No additional details about the incident were released.

The campus is located at Alexander Road and Simmons Street.

In the letter, Principal Zachary Robbins said “appropriate disciplinary action will be taken.” He urged parents to discuss school safety protocols with their children.
