For the first time, Las Vegas’ main airport recorded passenger traffic over 5 million in a single month, according to a report released Thursday.

Harry Reid International Airport, according to the Clark County Department of Aviation, welcomed 5.2 million passengers in October, marking the first time the airport — which tracks arriving and departing passengers — has surpassed the 5 million plateau.

Through the first 10 months of the year, the airport has tallied over 43.7 million passengers.

In the next two months, it could surpass its record of 51.5 million passengers in a year, a milestone reached in 2019.

The previous monthly high came in July when the airport counted just under 4.9 million passengers. All of the top-five months for passenger traffic at the airport have come in 2022.

In a statement, Rosemary Vassiliadis, director of aviation for Clark County, said October’s total shows that “Las Vegas remains amongst the most in-demand destinations in the world.”

She added that increased passenger traffic is also the product of Las Vegas Valley locals and their collective choice to travel more of late.
