The evolution of entertainment at Wynn’s Encore Theater continues to get interesting. The venue has expanded on its foundation of legacy-act headliners and superstar stand-up comedians with varied musical acts, and the latest plans have incredibly influential rock band Pixies playing two nights on May 12-13 during a tour to support their latest album “Doggere!” Before that, singer and songwriter Jack Johnson makes his debut at Encore Theater on Feb. 24-25. Tickets for both shows go on sale Dec. 16 via Ticketmaster.

Here are more concerts and event announcements from a very busy week: the Jonas Brothers return to what seems like a pop residency at Dolby Live on Feb. 17-19; Sebastian Maniscalco adds new dates to Encore Theater residency with two comedy shows each night on March 3-4; The Flaming Lips hit Brooklyn Bowl on March 4; indie rock favorites Ween will return to Brooklyn Bowl March 16-18; country crooner Riley Green visits the Theater at Virgin on March 17; metal outfit Underoath plays Brooklyn Bowl on March 25; the Legacy Tour, a 30-city R&B romp starring New Edition with Keith Sweat, Guy and Tank, stops at T-Mobile Arena on April 7; singer and actress Sabrina Carpenter performs at the Theater at Virgin on April 22; country singer Scotty McCreery stops at the Sunset Station Amphitheater on April 22; Iggy Pop & The Losers play the Pearl Concert Theater at Palms on April 29; legends Steve Martin and Martin Short return to the Las Vegas stage at Encore Theater on Sept. 22-23; and the co-headlining tour with The Postal Service and Death Cab for Cutie visits the Theater at Virgin on Oct. 4.

Lin-Manuel Miranda can’t stay away from Las Vegas. After helping open a resident production version of his “Freestyle Love Supreme” last month at the Venetian, the Broadway and big-screen phenom will return to the stage at the Summit Showroom to perform with the cast on Jan. 12-13. Tickets are on sale now at venetianlasvegas.com.

Live entertainment is back at the OYO just east of the Strip with the new Vegas Stand Up & Rock, comedy shows scheduled nightly at 7 p.m. and Thursday through Sunday at 9 p.m. The early shows feature touring comedians while the later shows are a bit of a variety production featuring music from Byron Kennedy and friends. Vegas Gem, also behind some of the entertainment at the Strat’s L.A. Comedy Club, is producing this new offering. More info is available at vegasstandupandrock.com.
