Gov.-elect Joe Lombardo to give first State of the State address in January

Gov.-elect Joe Lombardo today announced plans to convene Nevada lawmakers in Carson City next month ahead of the start of the 2023 legislative session to give his first State of the State address.

Lombardo, a Republican, will give the address Jan. 23 in the Nevada Assembly Chambers. Other details were not released.

“I look forward to delivering my first State of the State address to the Nevada Legislature and to my fellow Nevadans in January,” Lombardo said in a statement.

Lombardo will be sworn-in on Jan. 3 to replace Democratic Gov. Steve Sisolak, whom he defeated in November's general election by about 1.5%, or 15,000 votes.

“The Assembly looks forward to hosting Gov.-elect Lombardo for the State of the State address ahead of the beginning of the 2023 legislative session,”Democratic Speaker-elect Steve Yeager said in a statement.
