The Life is Beautiful music and arts festival in downtown Las Vegas could be expanding to other cities.

Rolling Stone, the popular culture magazine, has acquired a majority stake in the event, the publication announced Friday. Details of the transaction weren’t disclosed.

The festival will continue to be an annual occurrence in downtown Las Vegas, where it debuted in 2013 and annually brings more than 150,000 festivalgoers to the area.

The deal is part of a larger push by Rolling Stone, and its parent company Penske Media Corporation, to make further inroads in the live event space, according to the publication. The magazine said it will bring the festival to "other territories."

“Live events have to have the ability to tell stories and create a narrative and impact through content just beyond the event itself that happens once a year,” Rolling Stone CEO Gus Wenner said in the magazine’s story announcing the news.

David Oehm, the CEO of Life Is Beautiful, added, “We are thrilled to realize the potential of Life is Beautiful in partnership with Rolling Stone. As a landmark institution and touchstone of the music industry for over 50 years, the Rolling Stone team will help to deepen our connection to fans of music everywhere, while also championing the cultural initiatives that make Life is Beautiful so much more than a music festival.”

The 2022 event is Sept. 16-18. The lineup hasn’t been finalized.
