Man killed, 3-year-old boy critically injured in Las Vegas traffic wreck

A motorist was arrested on a DUI count today after leaving the scene of a crash in which a man was killed and a 3-year-old boy critically injured, Metro Police said.

The two-vehicle wreck happened about 4 a.m. today at Centennial Parkway and Shaumber Road in the northwest valley, police said.

A Jeep Grand Cherokee SUV was westbound on Centennial, approaching the intersection, when it ran a stop sign and collided with a compact SUV headed south on Shaumber, police said.

The driver of the Jeep, Lisa Guerino, 38, of Las Vegas, left the scene on foot, police said.

Officers later found Guerino at nearby home, police said. She was booked at the Clark County Detention Center on counts of DUI, reckless driving and failure to stop at the scene of an accident, according to jail logs.

Several people in the other vehicle, which was being driven by a 38-year-old woman, suffered substantial injuries, police said.

The man who died was a front-seat passenger, while the 3-year-old boy and a 6-year-old girl were sitting in the back seat, police said.

The man was pronounced dead at the scene, and the other occupants were taken to the University Medical Center, police said. Their names were not immediately released.

The crash remains under investigation, police said.
