Cal Jennings and Danny Trejo scored goals for the Las Vegas Lights today in a 2-1 victory at San Diego Loyal SC.

Trejo, who on Saturday made his Major League Soccer debut with the Lights’ parent team of LAFC, entered at halftime for Las Vegas and scored the winning goal in the 68th minute. It was his team-leading eighth goal of the season.

Jennings’ goal was recorded in the 17th minute on an assist from Roberto Molina, who returned to the Lights after playing Tuesday for the El Salvador national team in its 1-1 draw against the United States in the Concacaf Nations League.

The Lights (6-4-6) moved into eighth place in the Western Conference standings of the United Soccer League with 22 points, which also surpassed their 2021 points total of 21 points in 32 games. More important: Las Vegas is three points out of third place.

The Lights at 7:30 p.m. Friday will host Phoenix Rising. Fans will be invited on the field at halftime for a water balloon fight.
