A Metro Police corrections officer was arrested this morning in North Las Vegas and faces counts of sexual assault of a minor, the department confirmed.

Luis Ybarra, 28, remains in custody at the North Las Vegas Detention Center for sex assault of a child under 14, jail records show. He was booked shortly after 1:30 a.m.

Ybarra has been with Metro since 2017 and is assigned to the Clark County Detention Center, police confirmed in an email. He’s been suspended without pay pending the outcome of internal and criminal investigations.

Metro referred all inquiries to the North Las Vegas Police Department, which could not be reached for comment.

A search for Ybarra on the North Las Vegas Justice Court’s online schedule yielded no results, and it’s not immediately clear when he may appear.
