Teachers who join the Clark County School District next year may be eligible for a $4,000 relocation bonus, the School Board decided Thursday.

The bonuses come with some requirements: the new hires must be coming from at least 100 miles away or from out of state to work in CCSD starting in the 2022-23 school year, and they must commit to teaching in the district for at least three years.

The bonus only applies to next school year and will be covered by federal pandemic relief funds.

The board’s vote solidifies an agreement between district administration and the Clark County Education Association union, which “acknowledge(s) that the COVID pandemic has created and will continue to create economic disruption and uncertainty and the Clark County School District needs to help stabilize its employee base.”

Retired CCSD teachers who left prior to July 2021 may also be eligible for the incentive.

The board approved the bonuses with no discussion on a 6-0 vote, with board member Katie Williams absent.
