Tommy Vibabul’s touchdown reception from Elijah Espinoza six seconds before halftime tonight gave the Las Vegas High football team a two-point lead at the break and plenty of momentum against Spring Valley.
Espinoza wound up passing for three scores and Las Vegas didn’t allow any second half points in a 27-12 win in the second round of the class 4A playoffs.
Andrew Bowen and Ryan Harper also had touchdown receptions for Las Vegas, while Torrell Harley contributed a rushing touchdown.
Las Vegas advances to the state semifinals to face Shadow Ridge — the same team that knocked them out of the playoffs last season.
“For us, it starts with practice,” Las Vegas coach Erick Capetillo said. “We have to do a good job of simulating their (misdirection rushing attack). It’s the playoffs. Anything can happen.”
