Amystika” has closed at the Criss Angel Theater at Planet Hollywood. Angel announced its final performance would be Saturday, October 16, just a day earlier on Friday on social media. The illusionist who continues his “Mindfreak” production at the same venue co-created “Amystika” with Franco Dragone, who passed away on September 30, and it opened in April of this year. “Due to the recent unforeseen events, ‘Amystika’ is being converted to a touring show for international locations,” Angel posted on Instagram, noting that he will continue to feature and promote the shuttered show on his upcoming CW TV series “Criss Angel’s Magic with the Stars,” which premieres this week on October 22.

In another closing announcement coming from social media: the Bronx Wanderers will be leaving the Westgate Cabaret after their performance on November 14, according to frontman Vincent John on Facebook. Their musical production opened there about a year ago and while John wrote the family band and its producers don’t want to depart—nor does the resort want them to—the show just isn’t profitable enough to continue its demanding schedule when balanced with the Wanderers’ more lucrative touring dates. The group is scheduled to play at the South Point for New Year’s Eve and John also noted the Bronx Wanderers are “certainly not done in Vegas.”

In more upbeat news from the Westgate, the legendary Barry Manilow has extended his residency through 2023 at the Westgate International Theater, meaning that during his 14th year performing at the resort, he will set a new record for total number of concert performances in Las Vegas, breaking the mark set by Elvis Presley, according to Westgate officials. The current show debuted at Westgate in the spring of 2018 and has been a runaway success, and Manilow performed there for several years when it was known as the Las Vegas Hilton. Ticket sales for 2023 show dates, which are numerous, start today at Ticketmaster.

At long last, Jimmy Kimmel’s Comedy Club is finally reopening at its Linq Promenade location. The two-story venue across from Brooklyn Bowl will present its first performances since March 2020 when its doors open again on November 3, and former Caesars Entertainment executive Damian Costa’s Pompey Entertainment will be managing and operating Kimmel’s club. The show schedule is set for Tuesdays at 7 p.m., Thursdays through Sundays at 8 and 10 p.m.; and additional midnight shows on Saturdays.

Other Las Vegas entertainment event announcements this week include: Reggaeton star Tainy will take the stage at the House of Blues at Mandalay Bay on November 16; Adam Sandler returns to the stage at the Chelsea at the Cosmopolitan for two tour stops on December 9 and 10; Kevin Hart will be back at Resorts World Theatre for two more performances on December 31 and January 1, following up on his November 18-19 shows when he will film a TV comedy special; tribute act Nerd Halen plays the M Pavilion at M Resort on January 21; Chicago is back at the Venetian Theatre for an eight-show limited engagement starting on February 24; Jerry Seinfeld will make a big return to the Colosseum at Caesars Palace, where he hasn’t performed since the pandemic shutdowns, on April 14 and 15 with June and July weekend dates to follow; and country rocker Aaron Lewis will play the Sandbar Stage at Red Rock Resort on May 14.

The Chi-Lites featuring Marshall Thompson have opened a Sunday afternoon residency at the Duomo at the Rio, joining fellow throwback musical productions “Raiding the Rock Vault” and the Docksiders in the versatile new space also operated by Pompey Entertainment. The classic R&B and soul vocal group’s next 2 p.m. shows are set for October 23 and November 6.

It was a big week for anniversaries on the Las Vegas Strip. On October 18, “X Country” at Harrah’s marked its seventh year with four racy new dance numbers. On October 15, “O” by Cirque du Soleil celebrated 24 years of performances at Bellagio.

On that same Saturday night, “Atomic Saloon Show” at the Grand Canal Shoppes at Venetian celebrated National Boss’s Day by giving its host and saloon proprietor Boozy Skunkton a bit of a night off as the great Kenneth Blake—as Dolly Parton—took over. Blake is the star and producer of the “Stars-N-Stilettos” female celebrity impersonator revue at Hamburger Mary’s, and a welcome addition to the post “Atomic” party as the cast, crew and guests celebrated the show’s recent milestone of 1,000 shows.
