Hunter Moore rushed for 103 yards and four touchdowns on 24 carries tonight in a 32-7 win over visiting Rancho in the first round of the class 3A playoffs.

Jacob Bryant scored on a rushing touchdown for the Eagles' other points, as they controlled the clock — and line of scrimmage — with 47 rushing attempts.

“We wanted to run the ball today. That was the key,” Boulder City coach Chris Moreli said.

The Eagles advance to play defending state champion Moapa Valley in the state quarterfinals next week.

Moapa Valley has a winning streak of nearly 30 games, but the Eagles aren’t lacking confidence.

That’s because they led Moapa Valley for most of the game in August before squandering the lead in the final minutes.

“They kids are excited to play Moapa. They know they let one slip away,” Moreli said. “The excitement is there. We are looking forward to going up there to play. You can see it in the kids’ eyes.”

Of course, Moapa Valley is a perennial state contender, who is nearly impossible to beat at home in Overton in the playoffs.

“I give them all of the credit in the world. They consistently put a good product on the field,” Moreli said.
