Devon Rice rushed for 90 yards and two touchdowns on six carries tonight for the Bishop Gorman football team in a 70-10 victory against Brookwood of Georgia in an ESPNU televised game.
Rice also had two receptions for 48 yards, as quarterback Micah Alejado passed for 239 yards and three touchdowns.
Gorman beat another national opponent to finish its nonleague slate with a 4-1 record, only losing to defending national champion Mater Dei in the second week of the season.
“I couldn’t be more proud of the guys. They put in a lot of hard work over the last five weeks,” Gorman coach Brent Browner said.
Micah Kaapana had a rushing and receiving touchdown for Gorman, Trech Kekahuna had three catches for 77 yards and a touchdown, and Zach Branch scored on a receiving touchdown and punt return.
Gorman will face its stiffest local challenge next week against undefeated Arbor View.
“Arbor View is one of the best teams in the state. They are coming up. They are dialed in,” Browner said.
Derek Meadows and Dylan Herman also had a touchdowns for Gorman.
