Indoor Football League Expansion

Bill Foley, owner of the Vegas Golden Knights and Henderson Silver Knights, is interviewed during a news conference at the Dollar Loan Center arena, under construction in Henderson, Tuesday, May 11, 2021. Foley and Dollar Loan Center founder and CEO Chuck Brennan announced the purchase of an Indoor Football League franchise.

Golden Knights owner Bill Foley is leading a charge to purchase Premier League soccer club AFC Bournemouth, according to a report from Sky Sport News.

The talks are in the advanced stages, according to the report, with Foley set to control 100% of the club. The deal could be finalized prior to this year's World Cup, which starts in November in Qatar, according to the report.

The report comes a day after current owner Maxim Demin appointed advisory firm Montiminy & Co. to oversee the sale of the club.

The Golden Knights declined to comment.

Demin purchased a full stake of Bournemouth in 2011. The price tag is expected to come around £150 million (approximately $172 million) for Foley to purchase the club.

Foley paid $500 million in expansion fees for the Golden Knights to join the NHL in 2017.

Bournemouth returned to the Premier League this season after spending the past two years in relegation. The club, nicknamed "The Cherries," is 2-3-1 this season and was founded in 1899.

This wouldn't be Foley's first attempt at purchasing a soccer club. He showed interest to purchase what would be Major League Soccer's 30th franchise should the league expand to Las Vegas.

The MLS is still considering expansion, with Las Vegas at the forefront, but Foley has since pulled out of the running to own the team. That effort is now headed by Aston Villa co-owner Wes Edens.
