A man who carjacked two people at gunpoint in the parking lot of a Las Vegas dentist office was sentenced to seven years in prison Monday by a U.S. District Judge.

Steve Francis Pitchford Jr., 39, of Las Vegas pleaded guilty on March 24, 2022, to use of a firearm during and in relation to a crime of violence, a U.S. Attorney’s Office news release states.

He was apprehended by Metro Police on June 28, 2019 – about ten days after the crime was committed. The FBI also investigated the case.

Judge Richard F. Boulware II sentenced Pitchford to an additional three years of supervised release following his prison sentence.

Former Special Assistant United States Attorney Nicholas Portz and Assistant United States Attorney Dan Cowhig prosecuted the case.
