Tipisone Manu had four rushing touchdowns and 156 rushing yards Friday night for the Spring Valley football team in a 37-6 victory against Bonanza in the Banner Game.
Ezekiel Olie and Antwon Lock connected on a 65-yard scoring play for the Grizzlies, who retained possession of the banner in this unique rivalry. The schools annually play for the banner — it’s nothing flashy and resembles a banner you’d see hanging on a fence on the street corner.
“The defense played great. They keep Bonanza on their heels the entire night,” said Marcus Teal, the Spring Valley coach who was previously a Bonanza assistant.
When Spring Valley opened in 2004, it took a majority of its original student population from Bonanza to create a natural rivalry.
