President Joe Biden will be in Las Vegas for a few hours Friday en route to a campaign reception in Los Angeles later in the day, according to the White House.
Further details about the president’s stop weren’t immediately available.
The stop marks Biden’s first trip to Southern Nevada since March, when he spoke at UNLV about lowering prescription drug prices. On that trip, Biden also celebrated the designation of Avi Kwa Ame National Monument, a 506,814-acre site about 80 miles from Las Vegas near Laughlin considered a sacred site of creation several local tribes.
Biden’s trip comes the same day as the memorial service for one of two Nevada State Police troopers who died last week after they were hit by a vehicle while assisting a motorist along Interstate 15.
The funeral for Trooper Alberto Felix, is scheduled to begin 10:30 a.m. Friday at Central Church, 1001 New Beginnings Way in Henderson. It is open to the public.
