UNLV remains closed after shooting, but students can pick up cars, personal belongings

Maryland Parkway has fully opened to traffic and students can retrieve their vehicles after Wednesday’s campus shooting, but some buildings remain closed, UNLV announced this morning.

Police presence will continue to be heavy on campus as they shooting investigation continues, the university said in an update on its website. 

Beam Hall, the Humanities Building, Student Union, Wright Hall and the UNLV Bookstore are still inaccessible, officials said.

Students who left essential belongings, such as wallets, keys and medication, in other buildings can pick them up, officials said.

They should contact University Police Services at 702-895-5575 to arrange entry into the buildings, officials said. 

All classes and activities have been canceled through Sunday.

The Vegas Strong Resiliency Center is providing resources and referrals for counseling and other services. People can call the center at 702-455-2433 or visit from 7:30 a.m. to 5 p.m. Monday through Friday at 2915 West Charleston Blvd.

Nevada 211, a program of the Department of Health and Human Services, can be reached outside of the center's operating hours for those seeking nonemergency information and community resources.
