A 39-year-old man was arrested Wednesday in the death of his girlfriend, who was stabbed and beaten, according to Metro Police.

Police said they were notified about 8 p.m. of a possible injured person in the 3500 block of Mountain Valley Drive in the northwest valley.

Officers located Brandon Tenorio inside a home with an unresponsive female suffering from serious trauma and apparent stab wounds, police said.

Medics pronounced the female dead at the scene, police said.

Homicide detectives determined Tenorio was involved in a verbal dispute with his girlfriend, police said. During the argument, Tenorio stabbed her and struck her with a blunt object, police said.

Detectives also learned another individual was present at the residence during the incident and was not allowed to leave by Tenorio, police said.

Metro said the individual was subsequently able to get out of the home and call police.

Tenorio was arrested and booked at the Clark County Detention Center on counts of open murder, assault with a deadly weapon and kidnapping with a deadly weapon, police said.

The Clark County Coroner’s Office will release the victim’s name, as well as the cause and manner of death, police said.
