Anaheim Ducks left wing Max Comtois (53) celebrates after scoring against Vegas Golden Knights during the third period of an NHL hockey game Thursday, Feb. 11, 2021, in Las Vegas.

The Golden Knights have signed former Anaheim Ducks forward Max Comtois to a professional tryout agreement, the team announced today.

Comtois, 24, will join the Golden Knights for training camp when it opens Sept. 21. He will have an opportunity to make the Vegas roster.

Comtois was a second-round pick by the Ducks (No. 50) in the 2017 NHL Draft. He scored 86 points (38 goals, 48 assists) in 210 games. He led Anaheim with 33 points in 55 games during the shortened 2021 season.

Comtois has eight points (six goals, two assists) in 15 career games against Vegas, the defending Stanley Cup champions, with four of those goals at T-Mobile Arena.

Comtois will be one of the notable names competing for the open roster spot created after the offseason trade of Reilly Smith to Pittsburgh. Pavel Dorofeyev and Paul Cotter will join Comtois in hopes of joining center William Karlsson on his line.
