It’s a rare high school football Thursday night in Las Vegas — and the slate of games couldn’t be better.

Bishop Gorman hosted Liberty in a Class 5A showdown of the state’s best teams, but the difference in skill level was apparent, as Gorman blasted Liberty 49-6.

Regardless, the teams are each projected to reach the state championship game and should face off again at Allegiant Stadium in November.

It wasn't the only game of note.

In the Class 3A, perennial power Moapa Valley hosts SLAM Nevada in a matchup of the classification’s top teams. SLAM took second at state last year, while Moapa Valley regularly wins double digit games and makes deep playoff runs. And Moapa Valley is very tough to beat at home in Overton.

Other games where the outcome should be close include: Faith Lutheran at Basic, Las Vegas at Green Valley, and Desert Pines traveling to Shadow Ridge.

Games are played on Thursday ahead of Rosh Hashanah.
