Lawyer: Man accused in Tupac Shakur's murder cannot raise bail

LAS VEGAS (AP) – The lawyer for the man accused of murder in the 1996 death of Tupac Shakur says his client is unable to raise the money toward his $750,000 bail that would allow him to be released to house arrest. Carl Arnold told reporters the stories Duane “Keffe (KEE’-fee) D” Davis has told about his involvement in Shakur’s murder are embellished or fiction so he could make money. Arnold says Davis will not testify at his trial in November, but Arnold intends to call rap mogul Suge (SHUG) Knight to testify. Davis was in a Las Vegas court yesterday for a status hearing. Prosecutors did not comment after the hearing.

Photographer alleges he was forced to watch Megan Thee Stallion have sex and was unfairly fired

LOS ANGELES (AP) — A photographer who worked for Megan Thee Stallion said in a lawsuit filed Tuesday that he was forced to watch her have sex, was unfairly fired soon after and was abused as her employee. In the suit filed in Los Angeles Superior Court, Emilio Garcia said that after a night out in 2022 in Ibiza, Spain, he was in an SUV with the hip-hop star when she began having sex with another woman right next to him. He was unable to get out of the moving car, and would have been in the middle of nowhere in a foreign country even if he was able. Garcia was “embarrassed, mortified and offended throughout the whole ordeal,” according to the lawsuit. Alex Spiro, Megan’s lawyer, said she would fight the lawsuit in court.

John Lennon guitar will be sold after years in an attic

LONDON (AP) – Julien’s Auctions will sell a guitar that John Lennon gave to Gordon Weller of Peter and Gordon, who gave it to his manager, who threw it in an attic for decades. Julien’s says the Framus “Hootenanny” 12-string guitar is expected to sell for as much as $800,000 at auction in New York at the end of May. Lennon and George Harrison both used the guitar on Beatles songs like “You’ve Got To Hide Your Love Away,” “Girl” and “Norwegian Wood.” The guitar suffered from those years in an attic, so it was restored to make it playable again.

Jon Bon Jovi is hopeful for his voice recovery

PASADENA, Calif. (AP) – Jon Bon Jovi describes his vocal injury as a strong vocal cord pushing around a weak one. Bon Jovi says at first, he thought if he got himself into touring shape, his voice would fix itself. After 15 concerts, he knew it wasn’t working, but he felt like he was “fighting an invisible enemy.” He compares his recovery from surgery to an athlete coming back from a ligament tear. Bon Jovi says the therapy is “intensive” but he’s confident he’s getting progressively better. The four-part docuseries “Thank You, Goodnight: The Bon Jovi Story” debuts Friday on Hulu. The band will release an album called “Forever” on June 7.

John Legend, Janelle Monae will speak at Loyola Marymount

LOS ANGELES (AP) – John Legend and Janelle Monae will send off the graduates of Loyola Marymount University with words of wisdom. Legend will be the keynote speaker for the undergraduate commencement exercises on May 4. Monae will be the keynote speaker at the graduate commencement on May 5.

Lost Johnny Cash songs will be released as “Songwriter” album

LOS ANGELES (AP) – A collection of demos that Johnny Cash recorded in 1993 will be released as an album this summer. Cash wrote all eleven songs on the album “Songwriter.” Cash shelved the songs after he met producer Rick Rubin, who took Cash into a new phase of his career. Cash’s son, John Carter Cash, discovered the demos, cleaned them up and asked musicians like Marty Stuart, Vince Gill and Dan Auerbach of the Black Keys to back up Cash’s vocals and acoustic guitar. “Songwriter” comes out June 28.

Lawrence's Gracie Lawrence takes role on “Sex Lives of College Girls”

NEW YORK (AP) – Gracie Lawrence of the band Lawrence will join the cast of the MAX series “The Sex Lives of College Girls.” Lawrence will play Kacey in the upcoming third season. Lawrence the band will release a new album called “Family Business” on June 21.
