Las Vegas Convention Center renovation hits milestone

The Las Vegas Convention and Visitors Authority’s $600 million renovation of its legacy campus hit a milestone this morning when the final piece of structural steel was installed.
A 50-foot beam signed by members of the group's workforce — about 300 tradespeople — was installed atop the Central Hall at the Las Vegas Convention Center’s legacy campus.
The “topping out” event is an important milestone in the project, tourism officials said.
Construction started in 2023 to extend the contemporary design and architecture of West Hall, an $980 million, 1.4 million-square-foot expansion completed in 2020.
The authority said it hosted 48 conventions with 1.2 million attendees in 2023.
“The renovation of the convention center underscores a commitment to meetings and events in the destination, and by extension, continued economic growth in Southern Nevada,” officials previously said in announcing the enhancements.
Construction in the Central and North halls will go through 2025. The South Hall, with a new administrative office complex and a state-of-the-art board room, was completed in January.
